I currently have T-Mobile and want to switch to Verizon. My T-Mobile plan doesn't expire until February 14, and I want to keep my number from T-mobile when I swich. Here's my question....can I change providers now and switch my number to verizon with out having to cancel the T-mobile (since I'm still in contract until the 14th).

Also, once I switch to verizon and take my old number, will I have to cancel the Tmobile or will that automatically cancel the plan when I take the number?

On or after the 14th, contact Verizon and sign-up for a plan. Indicate that you want to keep your phone number. They'll take it from there.

It's worth verifying with T-Mobile the date you plan expires. In writing, preferably. That way, they can't come back and charge you an early termination fee.

If you sign up for Verizon now, you'll get a new phone number. While T-Mobile MIGHT let you switch over to the old number after the 14th, they might not. Or they might charge you a fee.

Wait the 15 days until you plan expires. It'll be easier that way.

One would think that would be a good idea to increase customer base. Maybe you've thought of something here. I've never heard of anyone doing it, however.

i don't know how others work, but i work for one(provider). the way it works here is if you port, you are still going to be billed until the end of whatever billing cycle you are in. if it works the same way with them it would be yes. i call them up though.
