THE Hotel. This is the best place in town. Only the true Las Vegas players know about this place. I'm just being nice and disclosing this insider information because I feel sorry for you and the rest of the trolls on this site. ;)

Just kidding, but seriously--nothing in town compares to THE Hotel. Look it up on the net. It's by far the nicest hotel, best ambiance, and downright sweet. This is the only place I've ever stayed at while in town that I didn't want to leave the room.

The Mirage or the Venetian. Both are nice hotels with great rooms. But the real reason for staying at one of these two hotels is location. Both hotels are at the heart of the strip sitting directly across the street from each other.

The Venetian has some of the nicest rooms in Vegas (all are suites) and the canal shops are a fantastic place to shop. The Venetian is also home to one of the best shows in Vegas - The Blue Man Group.

While the rooms at Mirage aren't quite as upscale as those at the Venetian, they are still quite nice. The Mirage also does not have the shopping venue that other hotels in Vegas do although the highly acclaimed Caesar's Palace Forum Shops are right next door. What the Mirage does have is Danny Gans - quite possibly the best entertainer in Vegas (I've seen him once and would definitely go again). The Mirage also has some fairly good room rates during mid-week.

If you'd prefer to stay on the South end of the strip, stay at the Monte Carlo. It's probably one of the best kept secrets in Vegas. although it's not one of the fanciest hotels, the rooms are clean and comfortable and you can often find rooms for $49.00 per night.

Cheers!

This is actually a more complex question than you might think. It all depends on the reason for your visit and even your traveling companions.

I have stayed at several of the hotels and Vegas and for the last several years have made the journey to my favorite city usually once and sometimes twice a year. I always try to stay at different hotels for each visit and I have found that they all have a different but unique feel. If you want modern fun and youthful company, the New York New York seems to be one of the more popular hotels for the college crowds. It is fun and appealing to all ages but has a youthful feel to it. The Excalibur has a less ritzy but fun atmosphere. If your looking for Las Vegas luxury, this is not the hotel for you but it is fun and less costly than most hotels on the strip. The MGM seems to have a good blend of younger and more mature groups. It seems to appeal to everyone although I do think the floor plan of the hotel is a bit confusing and took several days to get the hang of. The Bellagio is definately more expensive and dazzling to say the least. It is an upperscale hotel with the decor and emenities to match. I received a feeling of highclass, more mature patrons in this hotel. Very Shiek!

If you are talking downtown on Freemont Street... I have tried 2 hotels there, The Golden Nugget and Fitzgeralds. This is the area that you definately get the more old school Vegas feel. Plenty of lights and $1.99 Shrimp cocktails but not near as classy and festive as being on the strip.

I am returning in May and this time I will be staying at the Mirage. We are so excited and are looking forward to exploring a new hotel for our stay. Famed for the exploding volcano out front and the well known white tigers and dolphins there should be plenty of things besides gambling to do there.

And don't forget to check the websites for these hotels. You can find out so much information on them just by researching!

Have fun!!!

I've stayed in several. The one I enjoyed the most is the Venetian. It is new and on the strip. Others like Circus Circus, Mandaly Bay, Excalibur and others are on the far end of town and you will have a difficult time walking from these hotels to the middle of the strip. Find a map of the hotels on the web and try to stay near the middle of town (unless you are driving into town and have transportation). The Wynn, Treasure Island, Belagio, Ceasar's and the Mirage are all within walking distance of each other as well.

All of these have websites. I suggest you spend an hour or two and view each and compare rates. Watch out at check-in. They will ask you to upgrade your room for $35 or so. I always agree but tell them I will do it for a room with a view of the strip. This usually works.

Have a blast!

I have been to Las Vegas now four times, and I have visited pretty much all of the major hotel/casinos on the Strip. My favorite when attempting to balance cost-luxury-amenities, etc. is the Luxor. It is one of the older hotel/casinos (relatively speaking), so the prices are generally very competitive. They seem to have the most consistent best prices when comparing packages or just room rates. The hotel is very nice, and the Egyptian theme is awesome. If you like to upgrade your room, it also has very nice spa suites.

It is located toward the end of the Strip, which is not as convenient as say Caeser's, but it is not enough of a problem for me. It is connected via covered walkways to Mandalay Bay and Excalibur. The casino also generally seems to have some competitive table minimums, and the shops there are varied and nice.

The Palms! They have everything!

4 Clubs
Playboy Club: New and the decor is gorgeous, but basically its a high roller table pit.
Moon: The New hotspot, nice layout and plenty of gogo dancers.
Rain: Biggest club there and legendary (in Vegas legendary means yesterdays hotspot)
Ghostbar: The original hotspot, but still goes off. Smaller venue makes it real easy to pack and still has one of the greatest views in town. Must See!

Restaurants galore:
N9NE - Hottest steakhouse in town, sexy nightclub environment.
Gardunos Mexican Cantina - Best lunch time fajita buffet eva!
24/7 Cafe - Late night dining at it's finest.
Little Buddha - Hi-end sushi always hits the spot.
Nove Contemporary Italian - Putting a new twist on an old classic.

The also have "The Mint" which is the coolest High Roller Lounge around, great atmosphere. And opening soon is the music venue Pearl, which will bring the hottest acts to the Palms nightly. Scheduled for the first week is Tool, Gwen Stefani & Evanescence.

- Hustla' Mike (Workin' this town over, so you don't have to!)

Our favorite hotel in Vegas so far is New York, New York.

We are thinking of staying at the Orleans next time because of all the things to do right there.

The Monte Carlo is probably my favorite. They are centrally located on the strip so travelling to any other venue on the strip is not a long walk/cab ride/trolley ride. The brew pub has great food as does the buffet. The rooms aren't overly fancy and you don't see a ton of kids in this hotel except maybe going to or coming from the pool. My wife and friends have used the pool and they have said it is nice. Price is about middle of the road.
