That is a good question. I have wondered this myself. The far left are really out in left field on this. The Earth has gone through cycles since the beginning of time. They try to hide the fact that over the last 5 years there has actually been a cooling of the Earth by .037 degrees c. It is to say the least minimal, but I would not call that warming. Even if there was a " global warming " we couldn't stop it. It is part of the Earths function. You have volcanic emissions that alone put more into the air than man does. I am not saying this to defend man's pollution of the Earth. We should be more careful and be better caretakers of the planet we live on. But to make up outright lies to justify their cause ( whatever it is) is very irresponsible. Scientists do this though and have for a long time. Look at the carbon dating process. It is a fraud in and of its self. But many scientists won't admit the truth. And they hate it when you catch them in their fraud and evade the issue and change the subject. Anyway, is there global warming? Yes, every few thousand years or so. Can we stop it? Can we stop the Earth from rotating, or stop the sun from having solar flares?

When seeking "motivation" for human actions, usually the best rule is to "FOLLOW THE MONEY"

Who would benefit if there were NO SUCH THING as global warming caused by human activity?

By the way, We are in a normal interglacial cycle, and you can visit a glacier in Alaska that has been documented as shrinking for almost 200 years! Long before automobiles.

Businesses are polluting the atmosphere and thereby contributing to global warming. Cars and other vehicles contribute to global warming. In order to take steps against global warming, businesses would have to be strictly regulated as to how much pollution they are putting out there, and they might have to find new ways to do what they do without polluting. Car manufactures would have to make their vehicles more fuel efficient and less polluting.

The bottom line is that all this would involve time, effort, and money for businesses. These businesses don't want to sacrifice profit, and they don't want to be regulated, so it's in their interests that people don't believe in global warming. That way they get to keep polluting and not sacrifice any profits that go to themselves.
