I have recently decided to start a more healthly lifestyle again, I gave it up 2 years ago. And so now I dug out of my drawer a bottle of one a day weight smart vitamins, and now I see they expired on april 2005. so is that mean they are bad or just like another way to get you to buy more? I used to work at a place that had "stamps" on items only because government demanded it be done. Thanks

I know they loose some of their potency, but if they are still safe to take, I don't know. I would not take them.

Vitamins that expired in 2005 are too old to mess with. Some of the substances can become toxic over time and damage your liver and kidneys, and other substances can lose their effectiveness. If you are trying to be healthy, I suggest throwing away the expired vitamins, purchasing new vitamins, and taking them every day and not worrying about it happening again because you will use them well before they expire this time.

Some ingredients might degrade or change over time. With an expiration date of almost two years, I'd buy a new bottle. For that price, it's really not worth the risk of something in it actually having become dangerous over time.

Vitamins, like all meds, lose potency over time. Those expiration dates are there for a reason.

They start to lose their effectiveness if they're used too far after the expiration date. It's probably better to get new ones, because they'll have more potency then the expired ones.

Yes, vitamins go bad. Well, they break down, they wont necessarily hurt you but 2 yrs after the expiration, they're pretty much useless.
