There's no way on earth I'd want to be responsible for kids in todays world, no one on this whole entire website can tell me that the world isn't f'ed up. When I was a kid it was a pleasure to go out and play ball or ride a bike, today the world isn't such a nice place. People are all for themselves, and no one really cares about anyone it seems. I just think living is so expensive and hard as it is, why on earth would I bring kids into this world.
Just my opinion.

As a new mom to a four month old, I can tell you that I truly did not know love until I became a mother. I can honestly say I have never loved anyone like the way I love her. I believe the reason why is because when you love other people there is a certain amount of expectation to get something out of it- but with a baby, your child, there is no expectation.

As far as the world being such an aweful place- I disagree with you- tell me if it was better during the 5th century or even 200 years ago when people still had to sh*t outside. What are you comparing today's world to? I'd like to know- please answer.

Listen- you can raise your child to be a better person- and unfortunately many people out there do not raise THEIR own children. They leave that responsibility up to the day care workers and nannies.

Feminism teaches us that women can do and be all and now men expect that. Now families are falling apart- marriage has an 80% failure rate- and people are on medication because of their awefull childhoods.. I am more traditional and believe that this is the direct result of mothers leaving their role as homemaker, mother and wife to work. The traditional values of our grandfathers are almost all lost, and that is truly unfortunate- but I hope to at least change that and instill into my children morals and values and wisdom to guide them when they make decisions as adults and make the world a better place.

To make this world better it takes one person at a time looking outside of themselves.

No matter how much you may think "it would be the best thing ever for her", some people simply would not make good parents. I suspect the whole "irresponsible" argument is really just an excuse... she simply doesn't want children and is tired of explaining herself at length. I've noticed that a lot of women who are already mothers think that any woman who says they don't want kids just needs to experience motherhood and they'll be hooked. It's not true. Some women just DON'T WANT kids, because they lack the instinct to be a mother and have no desire to acquire it. In any case, the world is no worse off now than it was during our parents' generation, or our grandparents'. There were wars back then, too. There was crime back then, too. There was evil in the world back then, too. We somehow managed to survive it. I suspect our children will do the same.

I agree with you 100%. I would only want to have a child if I could give it the kind of childhood I had, and that's just not possible in today's world. Everyone is so concerned about protecting kids from EVERYTHING that they're ruining the experience of being a kid. My husband and I have decided not to have kids because the world is such an f'ed up place.

Are you trying to justify your opinion? If you don't want to have kids, then simply don't have them. But, what kind of reason is, the world isn't such a nice place? It never has been. You remember it that way, because you were a kid, and didn't know any better. As long as people have reproductive organs there will be children brought into this world.

I agree, but with a caveat. I think it's more important than ever for certain people not to have kids today. There are many, many (not most) people that are very capable of raising healthy children today that will be contributors to society. But, as the movie Idiocracy shows, we're not heading in the right direction in this regard. The less competent will always outbreed the more competent.

The world is bad i will agree with that but do you know how it got bad people not raising there kids right so they turned into rotten self centered adults the only way to change the world is with the next generation and to not let yourself go into the same selfish ways as everyone else...................

yes, the worls is mean and awful, and is not like "back in the old times". I sometimes wonder since the world is over populated as it is, and with global warming, war and social security in crisis, what will the future hold for a little one nowadays?

I really want to justify my decision of why not wanting more children, but I see my bf and I definetly would like to have his baby. I guess is my biological clock speaking, I'm 30+ and there is not a lot of time left.

Good luck

To show to all who would be willing to see, that just because the world is the way it is doesn't mean that you have to follow, and that Love could, does, and will, prevail. And that one of the best feelings in life is putting someone Else's needs before yours. To know and feel so special that you have been blessed with this life that will depend on you, and love you unconditionally.
Main point - to know the true meaning of love.

You live in the wrong place. Where I live it is very safe and my children enjoy playing outside. Everyone knows them and they have many friends who are adults in the community. Sorry you dont feel the same.
