*IF* they put hillary and barak on the same card and you have to choose between them do you feel this would weaken the chances of the dems winning in 08?

dems are blind to race and gender of sex (well thats the ideal we hold anyways)
but america isnt and it would be more important to win to effect teh changes we want it'd be slower than just having eevreyone wake up one day and decide these things dont matter bottom line the reason we wouldnt run both is becuase we want to win not becuase we want to "lose" as the repubes say

Well, they're both Dems. Only one can end up being nominated for President. In the General Election, you could end up with one running for President and one for VP. Neither a woman nor a black man have been elected to either office before, but a ticket with both running at once should bring out a lot of voters, both for and against. That might be a plus for the Dems, as people who usually don't vote are likely to turn out for this ticket.

These are both capable people, but Obama's lack of experience is likely to be seen as a problem by many voters. And of course a lot of people, even Dems, are going to think Hillary is too far to the left.

There is so much discontent with the current administration that it would seem the field is wide open for the Dems. But the Republicans do have a strong, capable potential candidate in Chuck Hagel.

Really not even a question since there is no way Hillary would allow someone as "scene stealing" as Obama on the same ticket as her. Plus, Obama and Hillary have some very different views... it would be suicide to the dems to do it. On second thought, I'll be rooting for just such a ticket.

I really don't think that the Dems would do that. At least I hope not. I am looking at getting the Repubs out of office.

That won't happen with them on the ticket!

I am no politics guru, but I think it is safe to assume that unless the democrats can find a candidate besides Barak( to junior of a senator to be taken seriously) or Hilary ( a Clinton, not likely) we will have a republican in the white house. Just my opinion- sorry

Hilary and Obama will be the Democtic ticket. Rudy or Mccain will be the republican nominee along with an unnamed woman as the VP for the GOP. Mark my words.

You would have to choose between them during the primary, not the general election, so I don't see how it could weaken the party.

Dems always talk a big game about equality, so what difference should it make if one is black and one is a woman? I thought Liberals were without racial and sexual bias. (snort!)

Well, lets see. It's seems to be all about gender and race. Dems still haven't got a clue about how we are not that shallow, to vote based on that. So I think they will sink.

Kermit? You think it would be good for Obama to get experience has VP? Don't you think it would be better to have experience before you are handed the VP position?

I think it's a great idea. Obama needs experience and would make a great VP and then be ready to step up to the big job after one or two terms.

They want to duck the issues and say, 'look how progressive we are. We have a woman and a black...what issues?'
They hope that the anti Bush sentiment and Clinton/Obama will smokescreen the fact they have proposed no realistic alternatives to the Repubs.
