I'm English, I live in London and I'm SO EFFING SICK, of thick a-holes over here who think they're really 'right on' and cool by slagging of America and Americans.

I appreciate that the US has got a prik running the country but why it is SO CLEVER to be rude about Americans, does anyone else find this really tiresome?
I mean there's 300 million of them after all. I'm sure they didn't ALL vote to go to war in Iraq.

Sometimes its easier to forget who your real friends are....

I am Australian and i'll see if i can answer some of your questions from an Australian point of view Pretty sure when you're talking directly to someone you only use mate if its a male, but we can say 'I was with some mates' if it includes females as well All those words are used among Australian youth too Irregular verbs can be spoken - leapt, wept, dreamt etc.... I remember a friend reading aloud a book and struggling to keep himself from saying 'leapt' when the book said 'leaped' because thats what we're all used to saying Usually say 'while' ... I've heard whilst used only a few times, usually by adults or more literate youths I would say 'he had already left' or 'he's already left' depending on context. 'he already left' doesn't sound correct to me, but I could be wrong To call you an idiot I would just say "you're an idiot" or possibly "you're a bloody idiot" (as our government was so kind to tell us via television advert a few years ago) - I know another element of separation - we and the British would say 'Minister for Foreign Affairs' (short for "Cabinet Minister responsible for Foreign Affairs") and Amercians say 'Minister of Foreign Affairs' And something about pronunciation, in words like library, cemetary, contrary, Canterbury, I think we would usually clip the vowel and say lib'ry, cemet'ry, cont'ry, Canterb'ry while the Americans say the words fully... some Australian youths are starting to copy the American pronunciation though, probably from television influence

Change your contact circle...
You know some *** wipes.
The Americans will NEVER be thanked or liked for what they give the world. The rest of the world is Jealous
Look what they did in WW11 for everyone.... By the way Americans didn't' vote,, in the same way as we didn;t !!!! Bush lied to them. Remember Coleen Powell at the UN and the BLIAR and Kelly saga.

I think the tide has turned. America is restoring Democracy and emerging from one of the worst periods in their history.

The whole world is breathing a sigh of relief. No, I disagree with your statement. It's COOL to like Americans again.

We should hold out the hand of friendship to them- they do MEAN well.

Is it? Good job I've never been trendy then.

I know quite a few Americans and they are, to a man, lovely people.

It's typical of the stereotyping that goes on the world over - insecure people trying desperately to bolster their own self esteem by putting down others.

One world, one people.

I support the war and the President. Think of me when your buddies are slagging Americans. You'll think they are clever again.

Cheers!

What do you mean, "at the moment"? Were they ever popular? (Except with slutty girls in 1944 when all the blokes had been off at war for 5 years and then a bunch of yank squaddies show up and give 'em a bit of chocolate and 'ows ya father).

Where have you been? LOL

There has been an element of anti-americanism in this country since WWII.

'Over sexed, over paid and over here'???

If you're so 'effing' sick of democracy, Dover is thataway!

well it all comes down to the american media spinmeisters spoke and the uneducated, easily led mindless people swallowed every lying word....its really about those people not thinking for themselves or seeking out the truth and just believing what is easiest for them to get to and what's popular. its a fad, a dangerous and stupid fad.
