Computers w/n function w/o RAM.

RAM = Random Access memory
(temporary info storage that last till power off.)

Computers need ram to store all the minute to minute operations and data:

Stuff like: operating system, time, what to do in the next 5 seconds, your name, what's on the screen etc.

RAM is like the chalkboard of the classroom.

The hard drive is like the notebook..(you can ONLY write in pencil)

When you power down the computer the chalkboard always gets erased....

but the notebook (hard drive) only changes when you write something or erase something yourself...oh and it takes longer to write/read (you gotta turn to the right page. that takes time.)

Al-tho as with all pencil writing as time passes on the pencil fades away unless you rewrite the information on the page again to darken it. (no ink allowed.)

So, the computer can't do a thing w/o a chalkboard (ram) to scribble on...

hope this helps

If your computer has no RAM , you will not be able to run any program or open any file. RAM is one of the necessary components.

If your computer has low RAM , then there are many things your computer will not be able to do , for the same reasons.

I guess, you wanted to say that if computer has less RAM.
My answer would be based on above assumption.
When you open a file it load in RAM; so it could be any file; but type of file and program in which file is opening matters.
For example you may be able to open bmp file in MS Paint but may fail to open jpg file in Photoshop. Because Photoshop is quiet heavy compare to MS Paint

No files can be opened since you need to have RAM to do so.

If you don't have any RAM your pc won't even boot up.
Do you mean free memory available? If so, ou probably won't be able to do much of anything. If you try to open up programs they will take forever.

If your computer doesn't have RAM, it will not even be able to boot...
RAM is like a small storage device needed to perform computer processes.

ALL computers have RAM. Perhaps you're confused or just mistyped your question.
