PCR amplification of DNA.

Stray DNA that can contaminate forensic tests can be amplified from in theory 1 DNA copy to billions.

Currently, there is no internal quality control of people's DNA who can be excluded with certainty from a crime intentionally placed in DNA data bases to help catch poor quality lab procedures.

As I understand it now, the police have only people with criminal history DNA in their files. If they make a mistake from sloppy work the wrong person gets convicted while the criminal (without a criminal history and thus not tested) has the case closed for them.

Its an example of geometric series being used as an aid with faulty logic.

The most obvious geometric sequence is the money you hace in the bank after n years for a fixed initial deposit and fixed interest rate. Si y would be x(1+i)^n with obvious notations.
