I believe that the AL Champion will come from the Central. However, if the team is beat up trying to win the division, the Red Sox do look very well off with a potential Todd Helton trade and a pitching staff that's top in the league.
The NL has nothing.

Sox will definitely threat to take AL East from Yanks again (then again, they do that every year it almost seems). They do have the pitching (Schilling, Daisuke, Papelbon, Wake, Beckett in the rotation, have a decenet bullpen and Joel Pineiro looking like he's gonna close out games), hitting should be better as JD Drew will be batting the 5 spot behind Manny (hopefully he won't flop... overpaid for him), and their defense is excellent now. Win the World Series? I say they do have a legitimate shot, if they get past the Yanks

I don't think the Red Sox have the pitching to compete this year. Come to think of it, do they even have a designated closer yet?

They have a chance, but it's impossible to predict playoff outcomes before the season even begins. I think they'll be fighting with the Yankees for the division titles (with the Jays a possible third contender), and after that it's a crapshoot.
