I've had problems w/ chronic constip. for years now, & I always worry about what to eat the day before having a doctor's appointment or any other appointment, becuz if I'm not able to go in a whole day, I'll wake up feeling miserable (headache, bloated, pressure in eyes, feeling really tired like if I haven't gotten any sleep at all etc). I asked my ob/gyn what would be safe to take & she recommended I take Colace & also told me Benefiber is safe to use during pregnancy. I now add 2 tsps of Benefiber to each of my meals (I use the max limit of it which is 6 tsps daily). She didn't tell me what to eat tho. Could you give me some ideas of what I should have today for lunch & dinner so that I won't be constipated by tommorow? I already had breakfast which was 1 cup of coffee (a lil milk in it and no sugar) w/ 2 tsps of Benefiber mixed in, 2 Metamucil Fiber Wafers, a bowl of All-Bran cereal, a glass of room temp apple juice, an apple & water. I was thinking a Wendy's BLT salad for dinner?

I ran outta room, but like I already mentioned, I already had breakfast, but don't know what to have for lunch and dinner to relieve and prevent the constipation. I was thinking a Wendy's Chicken BLT salad for dinner - I always throw away more than half of the bacon that comes in it and eat the rest of the salad like it is w/ about 1/3rd of the dressing which is either the Italian Vinaigrette or the Honey Mustard dressing. And I'll be drinking water with 2 tsps. Benefiber mixed in along with my salad. Is this enough/ and or a good choice for dinner or what else should I have? I have no idea what to make myself for lunch. I'll be snacking on apples if I still feel hungry later in the day. Please help. I don't want to feel miserable at my doctor's apptmt. tommorow morning.

I had really bad constipation with my second pregnancy. The only thing that provided me relief was taking Colace daily and drinking a couple of glasses prune juice each day. Stay away from spicy foods, fried foods and red meats and eat lots of veggies and foods high in fiber.

A salad for dinner is good however a salad made at home is best. Fast food is not your friend right now. Also drink lots of water because that aids in keeping things moving along.

I dont know if everyone experiences this, but during my pregnancy, It seemed that I was constipated no matter what I ate. Fruits and fruit juices were about all I could eat/drink to prevent it. Just try to stay away from oily/fried foods and fiber-rich foods. (fiber helps keep you regular, but if you are already prone to constipation, at least in my experience, it can add to the problem.)

Prune juice, Apple juice, Special K cereal, grapes and there is a yogurt calles "Activa" that helps get you regular and keep you regular. It tastes good too! All of these helped me, I had serious constipation due to my prenatal pills.

Drink tons of water, as that's the only thing that relieves my constipation. I've found that eating tons of cereal helps a lot too.

Eat lots of granola cereal. I had bad constipation problem before I got pregnant and people tolled me it would just get worse. So now I make my own granola and eat a bowl of it every morning and I am good to go (literally) .

Do nothing, go to your obgyn and tell them your constipated. you have to be careful what you take when your preg. If you take a laxative, that will effect your baby too, so check with you dr. try a natural remidy like juices. lettuce is harsh on youur stomache, not easily digestible, opt for cabbage.

You can eat broccoli, bananas, something with beans in it, especially kidney's or red beans. Fruit and green veggies make you go potty if you eat the right ones.

Hopoe this helps :-)

What about plain old PRUNES!! Talk about relief!! I'm surprised your doctors haven't told you to eat them. THEY work!! You might even try the juice if you can stand the taste.
