been married for over 3 years now but seperated for 1 year can he still be removed from the country or not?

He cannot be deported if he is a citizen..
You should divorce him before he obtains citizenship...

You have to be a permanent resident at least 5 years to become a citizen. He should see what is the expiration date on his resident card if he has the one that lasts 10 years he is fine if it just a 2 year one he has to apply to remove conditions up to 90 days prior of expiration date and apply with you together. after that you can get divorced.

Usually one gets temporary visa or greencard to stay in one country. And after 2 years of marriage if still married the immigration issue a permanent visa or greencard. And I don't believe one can become citizen of a country immediately through marriage. One has to stay X amount of years in one country to obtain citizenship. I suggest you go on google and search for immigration rules for the country you live in. You should get plenty of facts.

write a letter to IND as soon as possible. they will make it impossible for him to apply for citizenship after five years or renew the visa on grounds that he is happily married to you! best of luck
