Hi, there are a few things you can do, the most important (assuming the basics are covered) is port forwarding.
The basics include:
- know what your maximum speed is (http://resources.zdnet.co.uk/speedtest/ ) and don't download too many at once (watch your connection speeds).
- share. disabling or setting your 'upload' speed below 5k can restrict your downloads from some trackers/peers. I used about 80% of my upload speed and get good speeds.
- limit your download to about 95% of your maximum speed. This will allow you to keep surfing and can stop some firewalls from freaking out.
- check to see if your ISP is messing with p2p traffic (http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/Bad_ISPs ); if your ISP is to blame, check the 'encryption' setting in your preferences to make it harder for them to detect p2p flow.
- choosing torrents with a healthy number of seeds.
Port-forwarding (if you are behind a router)
- check your preferences and look for the listening port; 17880 or something similar will do.
- go here (http://portforward.com/routers.htm ) and set-up port-forwarding on your router. There are too many options to fit in this box.
Other settings
- maximum connected peers per torrent: don't go crazy here or your connection will crawl. Your upload speed x 1.3 should be fine.
- upload slots: 1 + (upload speed / 6) should be optimal.
- change your maximum half-open TCP connections to 8 (for a 2 meg connection)
If that doesn't work, you can try amending the windows connection to allow more half-open TCP connections (by default it's limited to 10 for security reasons). It's unlikely you'll need to do it and it can cause problems. If you are keen, search for the windows half-open TCP patch.

To increase the speed of torrent downloading, you should use cloud torrent downloader. Cloud torrent downloaders are online torrent client which can download torrents for you. You just need to provide them the magnet link or .torrent file and rest of things will be handled by them. When torrent is downloaded, they will provide you link to download torrent. The downloading speed depends upon maximum speed supported by your network connection, not on the no. of seeders/ leechers for respective torrent.
Here is list of some of the cloud torrent downloader:

Although your own download capacity bandwidth has a lot to do with it, the number of seeders as well as the amount you are willing to upload plays a large role. Some bittorrent clients will prioritze who they allot bandwidth to based on how much bandwidth the other person is giving out. If you can afford to upload, I'd say take off any limits on the upload side. Seeding is really out of your control, its just a matter of luck and finding the right torrent

Well, first of all, it depends on the type of connection that you have.
If you do jhave a fast internet speed, and you are unable to still download the torrent file at a good speed, then you need to check if the bittorrent client is limiting your badnwidth.

With Bit Torrent it really depends on the seeds. The more seeds the faster the download.
Good luck.

You really can't. The torrents are like limewire, ares, bearshare and file sharing programs like that.. It's a matter of how many people are gunning for the same file you are.

I've notice that it also depends on the program you are using to Download them, I've used plenty of them, but BitComet has been the fastes for me.
