I am 18 weeks pregnant with my third child and am steadily losing weight (not intentionally). I have lost about 8 lbs. This is very upsetting to me. I lost 2-3 lbs the first trimester of my second preg but I seem to be losing more weight each month with this pregnancy (1-2 lbs in the 2nd and 3rd months and 4lbs in my 4th month). I am not overweight, I have a BMI of about 25-26. Someone please tell my why I am losing weight and if it is a serious risk to my child.....And what I can do about it..

The work your body does making that baby burns a lot of calories. It speeds up your metabolism. I lost weight in my last pregnancy too. I actually gave birth weighing 5 lbs less then when I got pregnant. I lost all of that weight in the first 4 months, but then I steadily gained after that. I would talk you your doctor if you are concerned. Just remember, your baby will take what he needs.

I did the same thing, but I am a heavier girl. Towards the end of my pregnancy I did start to gain weight, only 11 lbs. I was concerned too, but as long as you are taking your prenatal vitamins and eating normal foods, lol, I know how those cravings get, you should both be fine. It was after my pregnancy I got scared, lol I lost 40 lbs in four weeks and only 8 lbs of that was my baby! The amount you're losing, no more than a lb. a week at this time is not a bad amount. Now if you were losing 12 or more lbs a month I would be concerned, but try talking to your doctor about your concerns at your next appointment, or call the nurses there, they will be able to tell you what you should do or if you should even worry. Good luck!

i lost 35 lbs in my first trimester, and another 15 during the second. I only weighted 115 lbs at the time I got preg. I had morning sickness 24 hours a day. I couldn't keep anything in. throwup and diareah. it eased up during my 8th month then came back 2 months after i delivered. after my dr ran some tests they found out i am severly allergic to wheat, flour, milk, you name it I can't eat it. It was exajerated while being preg. talk to your obgyn and ask for a food sensitivity test. good luck

As long as you are taking vitamins and eating healthy, don't worry about it. If your doctor is concerned, he'll let you know. Your baby could just be using up alot more calories now, so some of the extra fat reserves are being used by your body to feed you. Your body will ALWAYS feed your baby before it feeds you, so don't worry about your little one.

As long as you are getting the right nutrients for your baby, i think you'll be okay. But you should DEFINATELY talk to your doctor about it, because it could be a problem.

Good luck, and congrads on your baby

Fairy : the best effort for you is to go back and eat "Normal
Foods " because during pregnancy that child needs more
Nurishment as required yes ask "Family Doctor " first !
