I am looking for memory on ebay and I found some cheap ones but they say CL-3. Should I avoid this or buy? I don't need anything spectacular, just something to speed up my PC somewhat.

Yes, go for it. CL3 is fine.

The differences in speed due to memory latency are minimal, and far outweighed by the differences in memory speed ratings (PC100, PC133, PC2700), types (SDRAM, DDR, DDR2) and processors themselves. Putting the fastest memory you can in a 2.4Ghz Pentium 4 won't make it competitive with an AMD Athlon 3200+ running stock memory.

If you're adding memory to your machine, it's best to match whatever speed is already installed (read the printing on the DIMM chip, usually its indicated)

If you're replacing memory, you don't need to worry. Like if your motherboard only has 2 slots and they were both filled with 128mb chips for a total of 256 megs and you're replacing them with 256mb chips, for a total of 512 megs.

I can tell you it stands for Column Address Strobe Latency. In general the lower the number the faster the memory, but this is an older memory, so I take it an older computer, so the faster memory will only run as fast as the system it self. I have a PC3200 and it has the same CAS # as yours. So even if I went to a 2 or 1, it wouldn't make my computer any faster. Also,, go to Crucial .com..They have a lot of information on memory.
