There's nothing you can say but, "I'm sorry for your loss."

If you know what the grandmother's favorite flowers were, you could get a small bouquet of those and give them directly to your friend.

A condolence card could be nice, I try to find ones that don't have so many words. And it's a nice way to say the things you are having trouble saying. Be sure to offer to be available to talk to or just to take a walk with her when things get heavy.

Tell her that you are so sorry for her loss and if she or her family need anything just to let you know. Flowers are nice, try ordering a peace Lilly they are common at funerals and the family can take the plant home as a remembrance.

You send or take a sympathy card & then tell the florest that you would like a bouquet of flowers for a funneral. Tell them they are in your thoughts & tell them you are there for them!

Just say your sorry she's gone and if they want to talk your there for them...not much you can do other than that to help. Send a card and a small planter
