my brother was getting his floor redone and fell through an open floorboard and scraped his *** so it was all cut, i couldn't stop laughing, bad sister!!

. . .i woulda laughed too. I would feel bad, just as it seems you do, but it's funny. we're brought up to think of things like that as funny. it's not your fault. hell, he'll probably laugh about it in a few months too.
