you must run from Ironforge up to Menethil Harbor in the Wetlands (just north of Dun Morogh) and get on a boat. two boats come to dock there, get on the northernmost one. then you will be shipped to Auberdine in Darkshore, but that is too high for you, so don't quite go there yet...

you have to go north to the wetlands in on the north west of the wetlands there is a strong hold you can take the ship to kalimdor or you can ask any mage to open a portal it will be much easier

it depends on where you are trying to go in kalimdor. you best bet is indeed to run to the wetlands and hop on one of the boats to the other continent - but where you're going would impact which boat i would recommend.

At level 10 ask a mage to port you, it's safer.
