When a family member gets a long, slow fatal illness that will end in death, it takes a toll on everybody. As the sick person goes down hill, different family members have different ways of coping. The sight of the sick person drastically changed is repulsive, yet love and loyalty and a sense of duty make the family try to care for the person the best they can. The presence of the sick family member, who is no longer able to participate in normal life, affects the entire family. The eventual death is sad, but it is also a relief and lets the family get on with their own lives.
