Seeing they ban smoking in cities shouldn't they also be banned on sales in that city?

And they also are banning in cars and homes now!

I think cities that have a ban should refuse any taxes, including sales taxes, from tobacco yet keep them for sale, since it is a legal product regulated by the feds.
The acceptance of money from a source they (the majority) are against is typical of the anti-smoking group, hypocritical.

As to the one thinking that the ban should be on the number one used drug, that, my friend, in the US would be caffeine; consumed in colas, coffee, energy drinks and tea.

And I would like to hear how the millions and of dollars from excessive taxes and court cases against tobacco have been used for the (imaginary) mountain of health problems, reportedly to be caused by tobacco. I have never seen this money used for anything other than more propaganda.

while having just quit smoking (8 days), I disagree with all the bans. Yes, it is unhealthy... but so is alcohol in more than moderation. Yes, cigarette related health issues cost money, but so does the cost of alcohol related accidents. Prohibition didn't work so it was repealed. People have become too sheeplike lately and don't stand up for their beliefs like we used to. Instead of banning smoking in a city, enforce littering... at $250 per butt on the ground, you'll pay quick attention to where you put them (as litter is a common theme in outlawing them, (as well as health). In the open air, unless the smoke is blown into your face, will it really have much effect?

I'm more concerned about the pollutants that large industry puts in to the air I breathe, but that is perfectly legal.

The whole ban is stupid! There are REAL drugs out there that are killing people and being used to kill others that are innocent! Putting used needles in kids playground equipment! This is what we should be focusing on not of my gosh that man lit a cigarette! People are free to smoke cigarettes, this is NOT ILLEGAL! But drugs that change peoples perception of life and make them feel like that can do anything that isn't real, but they leave that to fight something that isn't even worth fighting for!

Ok.. so if you want to ban sales on smoking, because you can't smoke in public.. let's take it a step further and ban the sale of alcohol too. There's more of limit where you can't drink right? Makes sense to me with your arguement.

yes. they shouldn't ban either, but to pass a ban on an item legally sold in the city is hypocritical. the conservatives in ohio seem to be hypocritcal a lot. supporting a ban on a legal product the state makes money off of.

i'm so upset. someone has posted a lie and i get a thumbs down for truth.

It's not banned in your home and personal car. Why should they not be sold just because they are banned in public places?

Absolutely. But one step at a time is the only way to move when dealing with smoking. If you try to get the whole enchilada at once, nothing will happen.

For example, while we were busy trying to get smoking ads off the television, the cigarette companies were paying billions to get ads out to our kids. Remember how cool Joe Camel was to kids?

Banning the sale of cigarettes would just create illegal dealers and crime.

It's great knowing the true colors of liberals. The war on drugs is a failure and they want to make it stronger by banning the number 1 drug used.
