As a college student I got $20/hour for math tutoring. A 15 year old should probably get about $10/hour. While that may seem like a lot, trying to get a young person (in this case, Paul's son) to sit down, learn, and understand math is a difficult thing. So I think $10/hour is reasonable.

Most tutors get 30-40 in University, for a fifteen year old, to make it worth the tutor's while, I'd say $25. If the tutor and your son are within walking distance then $20 an hour might be enough. The tutor will be 17 or 18 years old, I don't think you will be able to find someone with experience for less than that.
I tutor and I don't bargain my rates because I have way more people than I can handle. I think it's the case with a lot of tutors. We charge certain rates, please don't take offense at this, but we charge high rates to act as we call a "Bozo Filter." People who expect us to give them a magic solution with no homework. When someone hires a tutor they get more homework, not less.

There is a difference between "help out" and "teach".
A certified teacher will teach math better than a math genius.
So, as for the going rate, I agree with the poster that 10$ is good enough. Hope it helps.

in case you think of $20-30 money in line with hour is ridiculous, then cost much less. See in case you may legitimately help babies develop their grades, then you quite can develop your expenses next semester. it may be powerful in case you're able to decide some form of comments for the top of the semester for faculty babies and their mum and dad. it may assist you recognize which of your coaching ideas artwork and which do no longer. Too, if the mother and dad think of you're doing a physically powerful interest, they could probable supply you references once you attempt to charm to new pupils for tutoring.

It varies, depending on the level of expertese, etc. I charge $50 an hour, but many of my colleagues charge as much as $100 an hour. Of course, we are certified teachers!
