PRO - Dr. Condoleezza Rice as president.

CON - Hillary Clinton as president.

The Clinton's offered very little to the American people the last time they lived on Pennsylvania Avenue other than credit taking, self servidness, scandal and corruption.

It's not a matter of the race or gender. It's the Right person that can handle a tough job and make hard decisions during the difficult times we are in.

Wake up America !!

I think the biggest pro and the biggest con are both the 'fact' that this would be a FEMALE 'running the country' ... and a MARRIED FEMALE to make it even 'worse.' In my household, my husband and I are 'equal' but we are not equal on every thing so that sometimes I defer to his decisions and sometimes he defers to mine, so when I 'think' about our female president, the next question on my mind is "Is this HER thoughts/decision, or HIS?" Other people have different 'feelings' about the 'roles of gender' in the world, and we do at least have some 'distant' memories of people like Margaret Thatcher in England, and other women who have 'run their country' ... but I don't think that memory is quite enough for us to 'set aside' our 'prejudices' both for and against 'females' in general. So, perhaps the 'worst' will be that our first female president will have to seem very 'male' in the way she 'does things' while she's really a 'female' ... but the BEST will be that wonderful 'breaking point' in that 'glass ceiling' that has kept even the best 'females' in this country from going as 'far up the ladder as the ladder goes' and not just 'as far up the ladder as the males above her let her go' ...

Pros: Girls and young women will finally have a presidential role model. Right now it's pretty lame when girls are told "anybody can be president". Uh-huh. A woman will have the opportunity to display leadership qualities "under fire".

Cons: We'll have to listen non-stop during the election campaign and the presidency to every sexist myth about women that has ever existed (I'm already tired of hearing about pms).

The same pros and cons of having as male President. Maybe they'll accurately represent you when she takes office, she won't.

There are no assurances in politics. But you should not let gender sway you, because there is NOTHING that says that a male can be a better President than a woman, or vice-versa.

Frankly, I don't think gender should be an issue.

Perhaps a female president would bring a bit of a different perspective to the office. However, nations are genderless and ultimately a president must make decisions based on national self-interest.

To me, any politician that attempts to make gender or race an issue is simply making a transparent attempt to pander to voter demographics in order to cover for a lack of true leadership ability.

This is one of the reasons that I am a huge Condeleezza Rice fan. She has done an *excellent* job in each of the positions that she has held in the current administration and in no instance have I herd even a hint of her attempting to suggest race or gender has played any part in her success. She is where she is because she is simply the best qualified to be there.

con: one might get elected just because she is female and not because she is the right person for the job.
con: some men are still unable to deal with women as equals.
con: any decision she makes will be scrutinized as to whether hormones were involved, a situation men have not had to deal with even though they are flooded with testosterone - a hormone of aggression.

pro: women don't have the testosterone overflow that pushes aggression so they can be more level-headed
pro: a woman might come up with different approach to all things
pro: a less destructive but far more successful means of fighting wars

for the most part, however, the differences between men and women with regard to their leadership abilities are not significant.

Depends on their political views. It's the same as the pros and cons of having a male president. The presidency isn't made by genitalia. It's made by leadership ability. And some effective communiation skills would be a breath of fresh air.

To my mind, a Woman could be president and I'm sure Women have the same competence that men.

But, I'm French (that why I'm not speeking very well), and in my county a woman want to be president : It's Ségolène Royal.

She is so stupid and she's always making diplomatic conflict like when she went to Quebec and she said : "the Quebec's Independance should be save". (I don't know if a lot of people have knew that)

As a consequence, I say : Women (as Hilary Clinton) could be president, but people like Ségolène Royal can't

I think it mainly depends on political views, but I don't think a women could handle it emotionally. and if your speaking of Hilary as the female president then there aren't any pros about it, all cons.
