Ford Motor Company should focus on building good products and working with the Union towards this objective. The problem today is not the Company (although CEOs are way over paid) nor with Unions (although they sometimes spend too much time defending slacker workers). The problem is "competition". Anyone remember the good old days when the Big 3 just had to compete with car builders like Nash, Hudson, Studebaker, or even Henry J. Kaiser? Hey, at that time they couldn't even compete with any real competition like TUCKER... they manage to keep that one from ever getting a fair chance to compete. So today the market has changed. They must compete with some great car builders or go the way of the dodo bird. I do need to make it clear that I believe American companies should be given a fair, level, playing field when it comes to competing with foreign countries.

The Union made Ford. The thing hurting Ford, and GM is management. You never hear about how each cars price goes up because of executive bonuses. It's always labors fault. If the execs get out of thier Ivory Towers and actually earn those bonuses by coming up with alternatives that are not tied to big oil, everyone wins.

Sure--- the meat packing industry used mexicans to lower wages and now the executives that brought out the suv mentality that upper income earners demonstrate daily have had a small set back in sales of vehicles that do not meet the needs of the average consumer . They hitched there band wagon to a group of people in the upper middle class suburban credit and debit ridden people who are all show and no go and now want to take it out on the workers .Typical of conservatives not to accept the problems they created and take it out on the workers .
Every member of the development and research team should be forced to return any bonus or stock option they ever exercised in the last 8 years .The bonuses of the boards of directors at the multiple plants should first give up their bonus and incentives before one single worker should take a penny in reductions of benefits . Mis management at the top should not end in employee sacrifice and this is what usually happens . Ford has billions in assets and may want to do some sales to repay any creditors they owe and restructure to meet the needs of the consumer who is after all in the best economy in a century if you listen to the bush people yet still can not afford a car or truck .
Sure thing ,lets force the people responsible for this problem the workers who make the cars and trucks to take the cuts . If you where in front of me I would strike you .

Move their company where? Are you suggesting that Ford fires all of it's American unionized employees, leave the US, and settle in some third-world country? That's a very bad idea.

All that unions accomplish is to force the cost of each thing up. With the difficult artwork guidelines that are contained in the books now, there extremely isn't any decide on for them. there is not any reason behind Barack Hussein Obama to provide unions any potential over workers and that is what his little union software will do. We already understand how the Democrat Congress and Senate worked out the multimillion dollar bailout for the motorcar-makers union`s advantages and retirement. it really is Barack Hussein Obama`s way of paying off theunions for all the money that they donated to his marketing campaign. homegirl: Who is time-honored with of ways many air site visitors injuries there ought to were if Regan had not disvanded the Air-site visitors Controller`s union at the same time as he did.

Ford has plants in non-union countries all over the world.

What they need to do is ditch their incompetent management team for building POS cars nobody wants to buy.

they just need to adapt to the changing times.. it won't be easy.. but it has to happen for the company to survive.. look at American brands like Saturn that are on the rise.. Ford should be working on cheaper, high gas mileage vehicles to keep up with the market.. those that want the gas guzzle "American Muscle" are a dwindling breed.

UNIONS USED TO BE A GOOD THING BUT LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE THEY ARE NOW OUTDATED. IT KILLS ME TO SEE SOMEONE MAKE 100,000 PER YEAR TO CHANGE LIGHT BULBS. ALL BECAUSE UNIONS ARE DRIVING UP THE COST OF EVERYTHING.
THEN THEY ARE CALLED ELECTRICIANS, THAT'S A LAUGH. FORD NEEDS TO STAY ALIVE AND IF GETTING RID OF THE UNIONS DOES THAT THEN MORE POWER TO THEM. WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE A UNIONIZED OUT OF BUSINESS FORD MOTOR CO. OR A VIABLE UNION LESS FORD MOTOR COMPANY.
