There's 'service wife', 'soccer mom', 'single mom', 'housewife/homemaker', 'D.I.N.K', etc. etc. But there's nothing that denotes a woman who's married (with or without kids) and whose husband is on an extended business trip-- 'single mom' just isn't accurate. Granted, the wife/mom must do everything around the house as if she were single, but in this case she most certainly would NOT be. Any ideas?

AH: Great lead on a possible solution, but the connotation is negative, adulterous. I'm looking for something positive, something that doesn't automatically impute 'adultery'. Soccer Mom is positive, but they can be either married or single...

Biz9: I like it! It's catchy. But we both work full time. 'Nest Mom' might be more like it!

My husband travels quite extensivly on business for the goeverment. So I know what you are talking about. I have been called a "goverment wife", a "corporate wife", and a "company wife", and a "home alone wife". And since some of our friends are a bit on the redneck side a "get er done" wife. And proud of all the titles

At-home wife? Although homemaker would seem to fit. What about "work widow?" My husband is a big-time (sigh...) World of Warcraft gamer and I've been known to call myself a WOW Widow.

Domestic spouse?

The phrase in my country literally translates to "grass widow" From what I've read this is also a term in English. See for example the link below.

in my view, for me there's a temptation. no longer lots to cheat, yet to do something that my spouse might locate unacceptable. Like going to a strip club. I ought to admit, i become bored sitting there all by skill of myself in a inn room, and together as i do no longer extremely like gazing strippers (maximum are skanks), a minimum of i'm no longer on my own. My spouse does no longer approve of that activity.
