I think over the next couple of years we make the country entirely self sufficent. We force the unemployed and people on welfare to work in munitions factories to make bombs. Then one by one we carpet bomb and knock every other country (besides maybe UK and Canada) back into the stone age. Using our satellites we will track down the few people left remaining on the planet and kill them all. We will then be free to repopulate the planet and the world will be free of the lowly and insignificant.

I like the making the unemployed people work part, but I am not too keen on killing the world's population. Most of those people are suffering under unimaginable tyranny. Their governments tell them what to do and when to do it. I say we free the people by taking over the globe. The United States of Earth has a nice ring don't ya think?

Your plan is quite ambitious, but it has some flaws:
1) There are other nations in the world posessing atomic weapons enough to exterminate not only the US, but the whole life on the planet.
2) Even if you manage to trick those somehow, inside the very US (including the army) you have many different nationalities (millions of people ) - how would they react to their nations being butchered?
3) American people can't seem to agree even on occupying Iraq and you are talking of destroying the rest of the world.?!
If you are so interested in freeing the world of the lowly and insignificant, why don't you start by killing yourself?

The only trouble I see with this plan is that the repopulation of the world would be with people having the same frailties they enjoyed before your apocalypse. No, I say we end sin in the world, we teach everyone to love their neighbor, we teach mercy and compassion, and we spread this good news all over the planet. Oh wait!!!! This has already been done hasn't it.
