Does any one else find it sad that so many people are asking health questions? Not that the people are sad for doing it but our lack of affordable health care has reduced us to go to Yahoo Answers instead of Doctors?

I'm sure not all of the people asking are those who can't afford to see a doctor. Often, their medical facilities didn't do health teaching with them, or give them an informed answer, and they just need elaboration or comfort that someone cares.

Though, there are questions here and there that leave me puzzled as to why they asked here first. Such as, "OMG my girlfriend is having trouble breathing, what should I do?" Um, call 911, idiot.

Dead,

It's sad that folks automatically assume that people come here to ask questions instead of goin to a doc.

It's just like the post before...sometimes folks wanna know about a rash or a spot...innocuous questions. Most folks don't go running to a M.D. just for any 'ol little thing.

I also believe that when folks post these questions, as serious as they may be, they KNOW that they are automatically going to get wise-assed answers from prepubescents. Wish I could mitigate these (and wise assed post pubescents) but such is having a Q & A forum on Yahoo!.

Just because folks use this forum for what it is, it doesn't make for a political soapbox commentary on the healthcare issue. Sometimes a question about a rash is just a question about a rash.

I try to give good health advice, but always I say to check with your doctor. I would hope that is what they do. I don't believe people use this instead of seeking professional health care.

Hey think about it, you probably can't see a doctor now (price of office visit) under $40.00 then if they have to run tests, that's an extra charge. The medication is so expensive now too. If I did not have health insurance I wouldn't be able to go to the doctor.

I think we just want to find out if other people think our problems are bad enough to have to go see a doctor. Maybe someone here has had what you have and you want to know what they did. Besides, it's hard not only to pay for doctor visits, but just getting in to see them is tough too.

Well, why pay for advice you can get for free? One thing we all have in common are medical problems.

Until we socialize the medical system, costs will continue to rise.
