I am a big fan of moto GP and WSBK.
The racing is close with races coming down to being won by 1/1000ths of a second. Top speeds of 210mph+. Unbelieveable overtaking manouveres. Still with the interest of the technical side of tire set ups and Italian V-twins vs Japanese 4-cylinder bikes.
Riders have real rivalries on and off the track.
My question (and its an honest one) What is the big deal with F1? Compared to the bikes it just seems boring! please explain.

I think you'll find that just as much science goes into motorbikes. The MotoGP has just been restricted to 800cc from 1000cc of last year and the lap times are still just as fast! THATS SCIENCE!!
Oh and bikes have chassis as well!
Check out the power to weight ratio of a Moto GP Bike!!

In reply to saucy jack. They recently had a race at Silverstone between a Red bull British Superbike and the Redbull F1 car (Driven by David Coulthard) on a one lap race, the bike won by 3 seconds!!!

In reply to Eric S, perhaps you don't fully understand the science behind the motorcycle world. I am giving F1 fans a chance to persude me that F1 is better than motorcycle racing. So far its not working.

F1 still holds the fastest lap times,
but i think the biggest difference is the science and art behind the cars, you can go into a bike shop and buy a bike that isn't far off race ready for relatively cheep, there are hundreds of them in the streets here in the states, where as nothing on the road compares with an f1 car, and those that come even remotely close are so expensive they are few and far between
but rely it boils down to who you are and what you like

You have to have a full understanding of something before you start to criticize it, or you end up coming off as a fool. Your comments about F1 are foolish at best because the science of an F1 car far outweighs that of a bike in so many ways. Take a look at what F1 plans to develop and progress towards into the future. You will see that science is a huge part of how these cars are made, run, look and feel. As fans,I guess it's really all about what you like to see go in circles, which is foolish in itself, but don't go knocking the other guys dig especially when it's a Goliath to your David. And I doubt your David has the stones to knock our Goliath out of place anytime soon.

This is a question that puts people in two camps.
F1 fans hate bikes.
MotoGP fans hate cars.
In reality they are both as technologically advanced as each other, and the riders/drivers are all athletes at their fittest.
MotoGP and WSB shouldn't really be compared with each other as it would be like comparing F1 with World Touring Cars.
Personally I like both. There's a lot more team tactics in F1 with pit stops, and the rider on MotoGP has the advantage of moving their weight around on the bike to help with it's dynamics.
Rivalries aren't what they used to be as being a top level racer is a profession now and they have to maintain their public and sponsorship appeal.

The best race in the F1 calander is Monaco. My boss has a flat there and I have been a couple of times, does not compare at all to seeing racing at Brands Hatch or Silverstone, or any other circuit for that matter. Its all about the cars, the power, the rules, the timings, the pit stops. And for me....I still miss Murray Walker. Schummy will be missed this season, cant stand Montoya, so heres hoping Jenson can start pulling his finger out and doing it for us brits.

well brother u gotta know that both races are supreme and its from these races that road cars and bikes are developed. and u for not liking f-1 its up to u but plz dont critize any race as all are done with extreme efforts by racers and teams. well one major difference in f-1 is that the team plays a big role during the race which is not the case at all in moto gp.... so its upto u to decide

On F1 there are too much outdated tracks, like Montecarlo, which should be bumped away AT ONCE; modern tracks like in Bahrein can easily offer a way better show for viewers. That's the main issue.

actually i think moto gp is boring, all the corners are really slow and boring, with formula one theres more adrenaline every part of the track is fast and furious. And a lot more science goes by formula one such as chasees etc whilst moto gp is just a bike.

this is going to be the most exciting year in formula 1 ever, because (a)the best driver, Alonso has gone to mclaren who are unreliable,(b)the brains behind Ferrari,Ross braun has taken a sabbatical, and(c) Renault have inexperienced drivers, so it will be a very open season
