Vinegar - pour a few cups of vinegar in the water tank and allow it to sit about 30 min... Then flush the toilet a couple of times to make sure you get all of the vinegar out of the tank.

vinegar is acid and it left too long over time will corrode the metal in your, just leave it in just long enough to descale /descumb it.. ;)

Bleach eats rubber... so stay away from that unless you like replacing seals, flanges, whatever else is rubber in there ;(

Try a product called Lime Away. Begin by emptying the water from the tank. Turn off water to toilet and flush. Brush the sides of tank with toilet brush. Add Lime Away and brush again. Let sit for 10 minutes. Turn water back on and allow tank to fill. Resume normal use of toilet. If slime and stains are not gone, repeat procedure. This is a good product and works well. Hope this helps.

Flush, then close the water inlet. When the tank is almost empty, scrub its walls with a brush and mild detergent. Then let the tank fill again, and flush until the water is clear again.

You may need to do this a couple of times a year.

I would use a toilet brush and a little bleach if you want the water out of there shut off the water to the toilet then flush it that will empty the tank.
