Employees are the biggest on going expense.

1 satisfied customer might tell one other customer; 1 dissatisfied customer will tell ten. But that's general to any retail business.

Fast food usually means its a chain and there are huge things to consider and a much larger initial outlay to risk in order to get the franchise. Most banks avoid lending money for restaurants and bars because their failure rate is huge.

Most failures are by people who have never been in the business.

Pizza is probably the highest profit margin on food (Pizza Hut is often categorized as fast food).

Chains aren't satisfying if you consider yourself at all creative because there isn't much that you are in control of: you have to follow the franchises guidelines.

Based on health department reports about restaurants in my area, I would suggest NOT keeping food to be served without refrigeration on the floor in open containers and trash bags. Kill the vermin, including roaches and rats, and don't spit in the cooking pots. Always wash your hands before you handle food, and wear a hairnet. These are only a few hints. I'm sure you can think of more.
