I have found the behaviour of the majority of the contestants on American Idol borderline psychotic, overly dramatic and emotionally unstable.

Is this a reflection of what the youth of todays American society are like? It is almost unbearable to watch, but their is a twisted stomach turning fascination that makes it hard not too, like a car accident.

I really dont believe the contestants are borderline anything but just being encouraged by family and friends who love them too much to be honest about their talents. I would imagine after hours and hours of standing in line, being interviewed and who else knows what really wears them down mentally and physically. By the time they get to perform their nerves are bad and when they perform I think it depends on the persons vunderbility and self esteem that can get bad results. Yes, I have seen a few that just want to get on television and a few that couldnt handle the lifestyle and stress of a performer to begin with when told they are not considered to the next round. Everyone has an opinion on everything that can used to get statis in this world but, as far as the young adults I see well, they are products of what we older generations have made them down the line. I know, I have 4 of them and if I ever did some of the things they have I would not have been abel to even write this. Evidentally some people dont laugh at things in this world enough and realize, its only for television.

Out of 10-20 thousand people trying out in each city they pick a few that they know are going to act like that. Don't forget that the tryouts are edited down from 16 hours to 1 hour and they show the best and the worst acts. You are seeing less than 1% which is not enough to apply to all contestants.

The impression you have is not yours, it's the impression given to you by the acting of these contestants, as well as the producers of American Idol and the too obvious editing of the show in order to give you that impression so you will continue to watch.

I cannot stand these people who come on AI and freak out for 10 minutes and they show the whole thing on the air it gives them fame they don't deserve for acting totally unacceptable and I tell my husband all the time they need to have shrinks on hand at the auditions some of those people are in need of serious hugs and counseling.

Adam Lambert's expertise is regrettably at cases obfuscated by his determination of cloth; and his attempt(s) to be unnecessarily unique. What Adam could follow is his rock musical form, form of a mixture of the cult action picture "Tommy" and the charismatic variety of a rock legend which incorporate Elvis whilst appearing on degree. actually, it could be not undemanding for many to take Lambert heavily, incredibly while he makes it a factor to look for each teach in a semi-Gothic form as to his gown, makeup, and so on. yet, if Lambert makes a speciality of his strengths and keeps his performances upbeat and relaxing, he stands a sturdy threat of shifting forward in the competition, a minimum of.

my 11 year old was watching with us and he asked me if some of the wierder folks really thought they could sing ?? I had to explain to him that the network picks some wierdos so the show would be worth watching . . .I really hope that it's not a real reflection of todays youth it's just the network looking for ratings . . .

They purposely show the weird people to get viewers to watch. The regular "youth of America" are too boring and people would quickly turn the channel.

Idol actually has pre-judging panels that look for the bad and the weird. If you happen to be very talented, but end up in the "looking for bad" line, you won't get through.

I believe most people do it to get attention and get on TV. They know that they put thru the weirdo's for their ratings, but people are getting disgusted with the small number of actual good contestants there are.
