Greater Seattle excels in livability with a mild climate, a wide range of housing options, arts and culture, sports, entertainment, an abundance of shops and restaurants and easy access to outdoor recreational activities during any season. Seattle was named the best US city in 2005 for access to wireless Internet connections; a top US city for arts-centric businesses and organizations per capita (3,721 arts-related businesses and organizations, according to a 2005 study by Americans for the Arts), and the "2nd Most Kid-Friendly City" according to a Population Connection study in 2001.
Seattle's mild winters and comfortable summers enable year-round outdoor activities. High temperatures in July average 75º F (24º C), while low temperatures in winter drop below freezing an average of only 15 days per year. Average yearly rainfall in Seattle is 36.2 inches (92 cm), compared to 19.5 inches (50 cm) in San Francisco; 34.5 (88 cm) in Chicago; 39 inches (99 cm) in Washington, DC, and 40.3 inches (102 cm) in New York City.
That should be enough for you to decide. Thanks.

I love living here. I moved here 4 years ago from Michigan and have never regretted it. The area is beautiful, the climate is mild, it's politically progressive and there is always something to do. I also love the neighborhoods here, which is unique for a metropolitan area. It makes it feel like a smaller town, but with big city amenities.
The cons of living here are the same as in most big cities...traffic, cost of living, homelessness, etc.
I think that how comfortable you will feel living here will depend greatly on where you are coming from. I moved here from a small town in Michigan, where the climate is extreme in the summer & winter months, so I love the weather here. My sister who moved here from sunny California hated the weather here and moved back to California within a few months.
If you deal at all with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), you should possibly consider living somewhere else. The winters here are long and days are dark and gloomy. We are the northern most metropolitan city in the continental US, so we get the least amount of daylight hours in the winter months. (On the flip side, we get more daylight hours in the summer months!)
I would definitely recommend coming for a visit before deciding to make a move. Check out apartments, neighborhoods, potential employment, etc. I think that is the only way to decide for sure if you will enjoy living here.
Best of luck to you!

personally I could never live right in Seattle ... but, I love to visit every year. It is very fast paced and expensive. I'm not a complete country girl, but I do like to stop and smell the roses.
Seattle does offer a lot of entertainment, job opportunities, and art. My cousin has lived there for over 30 yrs and loves it. So, it just depends on how you want to live your life. Good luck.

I love living here.
People are friendly, liberal and outgoing.
The region is very beautiful, lots of lakes and mountains plus the Puget Sound. Great outdoor possibilities for summer and winter.
The city is fun and offers a lot. It is not as expensive as some people think. You just have to know where to go.
There aren't too many tourists here. I like that.
The weather was wild this year, but usually the winter is mild and the summer just awesome.
A friend of mine just moved to Hawaii in July and he is regretting it already!!! He wants to come back here!!!
The only real negative: Traffic sucks. Seriously.

I miss Seattle. I'm sure you'll like it. There's plenty to do. Music, close to coast, moutains, country in mountain area, and city life as usual. Job's are tough but they are everywhere. Yea, it all good!!

living in seattle is awesome. kind of expensive, but it's worth it. lots of stuff to do, very diverse culturally, but everyone seems to get along with each other, and the weather is a lot nicer than you may have been led to believe.
