I've attached two links.

The first link I've included is a scan of the New York Times from 1918, it says 2 cents for the paper.

The second link is a scan of the Minneapolis Morning Tribune from 1915, it says 1 cent for the paper.

one site said that a California paper cost $2 a year for a subscription in 1919...seems average was about 1 dollar though per year
