Being honest with myself. If I truly believe in something..... feel something...... want something........ desire something..... I shouldn't constantly deny myself those feelings. I should listen to my heart..... as well as my head. It's always been said that if we expect others to love us, we first must love ourselves. Well, I suppose it is about time I started reaching out to myself before I begin feeling neglected by ........ well...... me.

The greatest gift I can give myself is satisfaction. No....get your mind out of the gutter! Not that type of satisfaction. I mean the satisfaction that comes from helping others. There is no feeling like the one you get when you have just aided a friend or a stranger. The self worth and great emotional feelings associated with that are immeasurable. Yes, giving gifts to others and helping them is truly a gift for myself. A gift of satisfaction.

Permission, or freedom, if you will, to be yourself, to be who you really are and be the best version of yours truly that exists. Anyway, that's the greatest gift I can give to myself because for so long I tried to be who other people told me I was. I didn't like that "me" very much. It was so liberating to finally say "To h*** with that!" and embrace the real me inside, stop playing a role, and start living. It made some people mad, but they'll get over it. And I'm happy in my own skin.

As I sip my large capo chino by a roaring fireside, my faithful basset hound at my feet listening to the Flower duet on the surround sound while my beloved massages my shoulders as I look out over the frozen crystalline winter woodland landscape, ah these moments are truly gifts! The gift of time, just self indulgent time.
