i know this one! my birthday is on leap day. any year that is evenly divisible by 4 will be a leap year. the exception is the century mark except when the year is evenly divisible by 400. we had a leap year in 2000. i was lucky then. i would have had to wait until 2400 to get a birthday on the century mark. by then i probably wouldn't be in very good shape to celibrate. the next leap day is next year. i'll have my ninth birthday then.

A leap year (or intercalary year) is a year containing an extra day (or, in case of lunisolar calendars, an extra month) in order to keep the calendar year synchronised with the astronomical or seasonal year. For example, February would have 29 days instead of just 28.
The Gregorian calendar, the current standard calendar in most of the world, adds a 29th day to February in all years evenly divisible by 4, except for centennial years (those ending in -00), which receive the extra day only if they are evenly divisible by 400. Thus 1600, 2000 and 2400 are leap years but 1700, 1800, 1900 and 2100 are not.

The next Leap Year will be in 2008.

Leap yeras come every four years. The only real difference from a normal year to a leap year is that the month of Feb has 29 days in a leap year and only 28 in a normal year.

A true calader day does not have 24 hours as is thought. A true day consist of 23 hours ans 56 minutes. That's 4 minutes shy of the believed to be 24 hours. Every 4 years, those extra minutes create another day. This day is added as February 29th. It balances time and it starts again.
