An interception in football is when the quarterback throws a pass and his receiver misses it and an opposing team member catches it. It is good, if you are cheering for the opposing team; bad if it happens to your team.

an interception is bad for the team on offense, and good for the team on defence. An interception is when the ball is in the air and a player from the team on defense catches the ball. Say the Colts are on Offense and the Bears are on Defense. Payton Manning throws the ball and Brian Urlacher catches it, that is an interception.

An interception is bad. It's when a person on the defending team catches a pass from the offense's quarterback intended for one of his own players. Basically, the defender steps in front of the receiver and steals the pass, giving his own team the ball instead of the other team scoring.
