New Labour are soft on crime, the trouble today is the do goodies who think they know best and keep putting their penny's worth in without the hindsight of seeing what their action are doing to this country. The government is afraid to stand up and say "enough is enough" and put a stop to the way things are going, why i cant understand, i think most law abiding citizens would be in favour of a tougher approach to crime.

Both. The Balance of Law is fundamentally in favour of criminals in terms of rights and justice. Blair's New Labour loves to wrap criminals and illgal immigrants in cotton wool.
If it was a football match the score would be:
Crime vs British Tax Payer SCORE 10 - NIL
My opinion be ruthless on criminals instead of the victims and basically use COMMON SENSE legislation when sentencing.
Build more prisons to accomodate inmates not flood the country with SUPERCASINOS which will generate a even more crime associated with gambling and gambling addiction.
Tony Blair might finally find out one day when he gets charged with War Crimes at the Hague ends up in prison himself.

New Labour has done nothing but pander to Essex man. We now have a nation where many men under 50 exhibit adolescent behaviour, sport is viewed as something more than casual entertainment and 'celebritys' can be the scum of the earth and still retain their status

Yes, they are soft on the CAUSES of crime. All they seem to do is bring out ideas like ASBOS, only sending serious offenders to prison etc. etc.
WHY don't they look more into the causes? I think one of the causes are that there just isn't enough for young people to do that's also affordable! Arggh! Drives me loopy!

Well the prisons are full & crime levels are falling, so it doesn't sound like they're soft on crime.
