If XBox 360 can play dvd movie, Why microsoft is selling additional dvd player for about $200.

It looks like, the final price for complete set XBox comes to 600. (399 mail console with 20GB Hard Drive + 199 for DVD Player), while Sony PS3 is about 699 for Blue Ray Disc Player built in, better graphic card and processor + 60 GB Hard Drive...Don't you think Microsoft should reduce XBox360 price at least 200 bucks?

The Xbox already plays DVDs out of the box. The HD-DVD drive costs 199.

So, if you don't want to view HD Movies, you save 200 bucks.

Do you own a PS2? Then answer truthfully: How many DVD movies have you watched with your PS2?
The same will be true with BlueRay on PS3. The Copy protection via the HDMI connection often doesn't work. It's buggy.
And tell me: How much space is on the Xbox harddrive left? I have tons of demos, all arcade games, several Film trailers and I still have over 5 GB free, to download a full HD movie from the marketplace.

So, all in all: The Xbox 360 is still $100 cheaper than PS3, has more games, rumble in its wireless controller, better online play and free downloadable content.

The external DVD player is actually an HD-DVD player for HD-DVDs. You don't need it unless you plan on buying HD-DVDs. But from personal experience my 360 upscales reg DVDs pretty well to my 720p LCD through the VGA cable. but the 360 will play regular DVDs straight out of the box. Plus the PS3 does not have a scaler chip built in so it is having some issues right now unless you have a full 1080p TV. But if your TV is 42" or less you will not notice any difference between 720p and 1080p. And as much as Sony wants to be THE high-def machine non of their games are in 1080p right now anyway. Developers are still figuring out how to produce games for its "graphically superior" hardware in a cost effective manner. I have a 360 and a Wii both are fun for different reasons. The PS3 will be cool but it isn't right now, no good games, no good online network, hella expensive. Unless you have the highest end TV you will not see all those superior graphics. The 360 premium system is you best bet right now. The scaler chip does wonders and I wouldn't commit to a system based on the DVD format just yet.
