Actually January 6th is when the wisemen reached Bethlehem, Sara G...not January 15th. I always keep my tree up until then at least then I take it down whenever I have time after that. But traditionally there are 12 days of Christmas starting on Dec. 25 going through Jan. 6th. I hope this helps.

I like to keep mine up til New Year's. However, my brother and his wife are Catholic, and I learned this year that they are supposed to keep their's up until January 15th, because that's when the wisemen supposedly reached Bethlehem. The lights on the tree and the star on top represent the north star which guided the wisemen to Bethlehem to find baby Jesus. I'd heard about what the lights represent, but I hadn't heard about the length of time they are supposed to keep the tree in any other Christian denomination. Just a bit of trivia for you.

personally I try not to let mine stay up any later than new year's day. As I've gotten older, I've put it up earlier and earlier. Last year I put it away the day after christmas. Sometimes it's annoying to have in your way. When I was a kid it always made me sad to put it up, guess I didn't realize how much of a hassle it was to have around and how much work went into it.

If your superstitious, then it comes down any time after New Years day. So anytime beginning 2 Jan is cool. The reason for this is that if you take it down any earlier, you will have back luck the following year. Cheers!
