Elected officials aren't going to listen to the people until they see that the people, have begun to hold them accountable. Up until this point, they have seen that they can essentially do what they want as long as they say what we want to hear at election time.

And, for the record, this is not a partisan issue. It is true of Republicans and Democrats alike.

The government won't start listening to the people until the people take the government over. By that I'm referring to electing officials who are actually citizens, and not drones of the 'machine'. This will never happen until we demand that during election campaigning equal time and money is available to every candidate running. This bullsh*t of holding 'debates' with just the two ruling party's men participating is ridiculous.Until the voters can hear from all the people who wish to be elected, not just the rich, fairness in government is a fantasy.

Did the serfs ever overthrow feudalism? No, america is a young nation, we should look to some of the solutions of the old world because we wont be riding so high forever. Especially if we keep electing chimpanzees for president. We also dont have the luxury of a new world like european superpowers did. we have filled the earth to its capacity and energy solutions need to be addressed or we will see a backwards movement in civilization and no technology will save us.

The only time it happens is when enough people speak out in large enough numbers & does whatever is necessary to get their attention. In today's scenario, trials & convictions seem to be what it will take. These will happen only when enough people make their views impossible to ignore.
