Julie not a lot of people could afford to run their car for 40 minutes prior to leaving. Perhaps 4 minutes so as to warm up the oil a bit bit defiantly not 40. With the price of gas it would be crazy. Besides it would be plenty warm after 4 or 5 minutes. I am certainly not a mechanic but that is my opinion anyway.

Forty minutes is a bit exagerated! Depending on what type of climate you live in. Depends on how longyou should let your warm up. If you live in a cold climate then you should let your car warm for at least 10 to 15 minutes. In warmer climates 5 to 10 minsutes is usually enough time.

Forty minutes is a bit long. But you DO need to warm it up. Especially when it's cold outside.
