Easy 10 for me.

If your heater is ALWAYS blowing cold air then the problem is not the thermostat. Even if your thermostat is not working you will be heat. Reason, if it were stuck so water would not circulate (impossible but used to make a point) then your engine would get hot and either die out or crack an engine block. Then the heater is the least of your worries.

If your thermostat is stuck open, then water circulates but you will get heat now.

What is wrong, is that your heater core, shaped like a miniature radiator, is clogged. You have to buy a new one. Underneath the hood, on the left side(passengers side) look for two hoses connected to the firewall. They will be right on top of each other. You disconnect these two hoses, and go inside and you may have to take some stuff off to get to the heater core to replace it. If by chance you see two pipes sticking out then your hoses to the heater core are not connected, probably due to the core was leaking water.

So normally if your thermostat is messed up, you would still get heat.

Easy, Just follow the return hose from the radiator, (top one) back to the engine. It's right there under the "gooseneck". Install the thermostat with the spring towards the engine.
