Femme & butch are classic words that have been around forever and are still HEAVILY used today. Femme simply means feminine. Butch is more masculine. Other words for butch include stud, tomboy, dom, aggressive. I am femme. My girlfriend is a stud. She identifies moreso with masculine ways. No, she does NOT want to be a man. That isnt what butch means. She's just more comfortable as a tomboy.

Some people within the lesbian community disagree with the use of labels so they shy away from. Personally, i think there inevitable and impossible to shy away from.
Hope this helped!

There not really that old fashioned but some would say so. But the new up to date words are (femme) fem , (butch) Ag, (femme&butch) fem aggres.
fem means female as in dress like a female act like a female plain and simple just real girly
ag means agressive girl as in born a girl but acts like a dude walks like a due speaks like a dude dresses like a dude
fem aggres means female aggressiveness which is a female that dresses like a like a girl(with heals ,tight jeans, lil shirts, etc) but acts like a boy
hope this answers your question!!!!

"Butch" and "femme" were common in the 1950s. They fell out of fashion, but some women are reclaiming them today. Some black women use "stud" instead of "butch."

"Butch" means a woman who is stereotypically masculine in her appearance and behavior, and "femme" is a very stereotypically feminine woman. I'm femme, but that's just my natural personality. My wife is more butch than I am, but identifies as "mixed", not butch or femme. (That's right to me.) Most women are in between.

My partner is definitely a butch. So if her best friend. They both work maintenance, wear muscle shirts, have very short hair. My partner opens the car door for me, and lights my cigarettes, She leads when we dance.

In comparison, I guess I am a femme, although I really only wear jeans or shorts and tank tops and I rarely wear makeup.

A bucth is a lesbian that acts and dresses like a man. A femme is a feminine lesbian that likes to dress in sexy girl clothes, make up and just loves being a girl.
