Who the hell claims basketball was invented by Canada?
Naismith was born in Canada...but was working at the YMCA in Springfield, Massachusetts when he developed the game.

Basketball was invented by Dr. James Naismith at a YMCA in Springfield, Mass. He developed the game as a means for the kids he was teaching to get exercise and stay active while being indoors since they couldn't go outside in the cold weather.

I don't know what Naismith's personal heritage may be, but the game was invented in America, which, I would assume, makes it an American game, not Canadian.
