My friend got a $12,000 engagement ring. The center stone has been modified because it once belonged to her fiance's ex(he was engaged once before). He also had additional diamonds added and put into a new mount. She is demanding a new ring.

Personally, I wouldn't have told her I got it for an ex before. Some women are superstitious about that stuff and giving her a ring that you bought for another woman is just kinda wrong.
His idea is it's a nice ring and he is giving it to her as a symbol of his love and the promise he wants to make to her.

I think she is more right than he is....but that is just my opinion.

oh dear, i would never of told her that i bought the ring for another girl in the first place, sum woman are funny that way( but at least he was honest i suppose cant take that away from him) but the woman sounds a bit selfish to me he did get it modified so in theory its not the same ring, and if thats all the woman is worried about well mayby its not such a good idea to get engaged, the man has went out his way to modify the ring and its still not good enough for her, not very nice, if i was the man i would have second thoughts about the girl

He should have asked her first how she felt about it. I accepted a ring like that once, but some women wouldn't! Is she willing to have a cheaper ring? This one might be nicer,since he already had the center diamond.

I'm not sure why she wants a different ring. The ring doesnt remind him of his previous ex - most guys don't think that way. It seems rather silly.
