Is this normal? After a change and feed, he's only up for like 10 min. Sometimes he starts to get tired in just 45 min. At night he's sleeping from 7p to 7a with a middle of the night waking/feeding that is brief.

that is great! a "sleepy" baby... gotta love them! my eldest was one.. I had the same concerns... I was so scared, cause she only nursed half the time... and then only one side.... wow, were my fears way off! she was 7lb 4 when she was born... 7lb0 the day after birth... normal... I know.. milk not in etc... but two days later she was 7lb 6oz.... and she 14lbs at two months.... 21lb by five months... and in 4t at a year! she slept most of her first year.... wait? at fifteen she still tries to do nothing but sleep....lol....I have more pictures of her asleep than I do of her awake I think... hmmm... and she is now? five eleven... 150lb... and growing! some babies just need more sleep... and they are also content.... not fussy... look at the bright side? you get more rest than any other mommy...lol... okay.... you also will 100% know when something is ailing that little gem! he won't be sleeping.... or quiet.... at around five to six months I remember my daughter started staying awake a little more... not the amount all the books say though.... lol...
so, relax... enjoy.... and remember? eveyr person is individual and different.... and they are as babies too....

Your question is a little unclear. He is only awake for 10 minutes? Or only awake for 45 minutes? Or did you mean 4 to 5 minutes?

Anyway, if he were a brand new baby this would be normal, but I think he should stay awake for an hour or so. You should probably count your blessings, because most parents aren't getting their babies to sleep 7pm to 7am! But if you're concerned, ask your pediatrician. I wouldn't depend on the answers you get here, if you're concerned that something's wrong with him. Good luck!

Remember that all babies are different, what may be normal for one baby might be off the wall for another. As long as baby is eating enough and gaining the appropriate weight, sleeping isn't a big issue. Be happy you are getting the 7 to 7, it sounds like you have him in a great schedule. Pretty soon he'll be up and moving so much you'll think, "Why can't he sleep more????"
Good luck, it sounds like you are doing a good job!

Iam so happy I came on here to read these questions! I have the same problem with my almost 4 month old. Ever since she was born she has been a sleepy baby.....and as funny as it sounds it worries me.
I don't really have any words of comfort seeing as we seem to be in the same situation, but I figure as long as they are eating properly, not lethargic when they are awake then sleep must be what they need....right?
Good luck, I'll think of you when my daughter starts yawning 20 minutes after getting up!

carry in there. it incredibly is not undemanding once you're short on sleep and your back hurts to boot. I actually have a 5 month previous to boot that I breastfeed. My toddler has continually slept for long stretches at night yet for a whilst did not have very sturdy sunlight hours dozing. I strongly advise use of a front p.c... it fairly is extremely tranquilizing/calming to the toddler and the rocking simulates the womb atmosphere. If she outgrows a front p.c.. you may get another form of p.c... My toddler is at present 17 lbs, and that i will in basic terms use the p.c.. till she is 20 lbs.. merely getting out of the living house with toddler - to the mall or to the food market is super too, infants lose interest too and desire new atmosphere. shop responding on your daughter and not enable her "cry it out". this equipment does not artwork and in basic terms harms the toddler physiologically. additionally carry your toddler as much as accessible because it fairly is serious to bonding. yet another element is approximately feeding your daughter. verify you're feeding her sufficient in the process the day. I breastfeed an entire hour authentic in the past toddler's bedtime and that i rock her in a glider in her room. A bedtime ordinary like examining 2 books, listening to mushy music, and so on is likewise very effective. My back substitute into incredibly hurting to boot (i substitute into in basic terms drowsing on my authentic and left ingredient) so now i attempt to sleep a third of the time on my back. This incredibly helped lots putting my back authentic, through fact it incredibly is tiring packing around a 15-18lb toddler!

I assume he's had his well baby checks? Take your concerns to your pediatrician.

It's likely, however, that it's just normal variation. The guidelines are only guidelines; they were developed from observing the behavior of normal babies. Maybe your son just falls at the end of the bell curve.

I would see the ped., but in the meantime, I wouldn't worry.

this is ok, every baby is different. He may be going through a growth spurt, they sleep a lot then. Infants are asleep more than they are awake. If he wasn't eating enough he would not be able to sleep well. I think this sounds very typical, you have a content baby, be glad.
