My fish tank was going well until I purchased two black mollies. Now they're breeding like rabbits. I don't want to do something drastic, but I'm unsure what I should do. Help!

Ask around if anyone wants fish. Sometimes local pet stores will take them in trade or just take them off your hands. If worse comes to worse, you can always have someone dispose of them for you.

If they inbreed too much you'll get spinabiffida fish.

The pet store where you purchased your fish should take the babbies and/or the males back. When mine over breed, my local fish store buys them off of me. I get credit towards fish foods, other fish etc.

That is the problem (or advantage) to mollies. Just remember if you return your males, the females can continue to have another 5 sets of babies!

If the fishstore you purchased the original fish will not take them or buy them, find another one. You can also advertise free fish in a local "free" paper.

Good luck!

Try taking some of them to a pet store. You could always get another little fish tank, like those octagonal 2 or 3 gallon tanks.

Best thing you can do is purchase a smaller aquarium kit like a 2 or 5 gallon kit. Put one in the new tank with a couple friends. Problem solved. Plus small tanks make good desk and nite-lights.

Contact the local pet stores in your area and ask if they buy any locally bred fish. Some stores prefer to buy fish from local breeders than from wholesalers.

Others will give you a store credit in return for fish, and yet others will simply take them for free from you.

Otherwise look for a local aquarium society that you can join. There you will find others that will happily take some of your fish.

You could get another tank or if you have friends check around maybe some of them might like to have some fish that you don't need.

You could call a local school, ask if they have a fish tank and see if they want more fish.

In my opinion molly's suck. take them back but just give them back. The more agressive freshwater fish are the better ones...

You could give them to me, and I could feed them to my Oscars and Flower Horn.
