It doesn't have to be. But unfortunately most people don't see that & will make themselves miserable trying to compete with others. Or countries compete & wage war on each other. Competition breeds jealousy, anger, violence... A little healthy competition can be a motivator to do your best however. Many people have achieved greatness by trying to outdo everyone else. If we were complacent & unmotivated why would we bother to improve ourselves?

Competition law and policy actively encourages decision-makers in government to tackle anti-competitive practices and regulations and promotes market-oriented reform throughout the world.

It isn't that life is a competition it is what we do throughout our lives that we compete in.

Applying for a job: you are competing against other candidates.
Sports: you are competing against other teams
Spouses: you are competing for the bathroom

These things are what we DO during our life. They don't tell us what our life is. You live your life in your heart and in your head. How we treat others, the way we raise our kids that is what life is.
