I can understand your fear.Let me honestly assure you that there is no hazard or insecurity for a person like you to travel to Pakistan.I am from Pakistan and have read studied Judaism in depth. No religion is more closer to Islam than Judaism. You don't have to fear about that at all until and unless you reveal your identity and start talking about Judaism in open public. There are fanatics out there who are in fact ignorant of their own religion. But again the Pakistani society is gradually transforming into a secular one if you talk about cities here like Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad in particular.
Let me add here that every true Muslim would love to coexist with a true Jew and wouldn't even mind eating food, doing business or even marrying them since that is all allowed in Islam. And yes there was in fact a large community of Jews living in Pakistan and i am personally quite fascinated about the Jewish culture and the Hebrew language. Please do check this site out :

After all we are your cousins...the children of Ishmael who as the brother of Isaac and the son Abraham(peace be upon them). And Muhammad(peace be upon him) emphasised upon exercising diplomacy with the Jews and signed a peaceful treaty with them during his lifetime.
Also do check this site and read the story of a Pakistani Jewish doctor:

So don't be afraid , you are always welcome to come here!

I am an American and I was in Pakistan for work a few months ago...I didn't feel especially threatened in any way so I'd say go, but show common sense. My guess is that most Muslims would be interested in talking to you since Islam and Judaism are closely related, and they probably don't meet that many Jews (use common sense -- I wouldn't talk with an obvious radical, but moderate Muslims). Islamabad and Lahore and pretty moderate, modern cities.

I stayed at both the Marriott and the Serena. The Marriott recently had a security incident (it seems very American that hotel) so if you have a choice, I'd opt for the Serena instead.

Pakistan is a safe country. Most people are not extremists there. And especially younger people are very open to foreing relations. No need to worry, don't listen to ignorant people.

With no offense meant to you or any others of culture or color, wouldn't one assume that "safe" is relative?

In the Mid East for example, they damage and destroy their "own" Should that keep us fearful of travel to those areas where a color or culture, a faith or blatant advertising of who we are is a crime? I suspect we have a monumental choice to make. Do we attempt to compose and conduct our lives as if "normal" or do we succumb to fear and revert to our caves?

On a lighter note; I am of mixed Native American origin. Could I assume it safe to wander into "Custers camp"?

Certainly we are burdened by this latest round of freedoms suppressed, and we do risk,,,,every day, even to cross a well trafficed street, but we do ourselves a global disservice to admit defeat and denial of our Universal rights, or privileges.

As long as you are American, having a business visit there, you will be fine. I don't think you are going to discuss your faith or your believes with anyone there. Its a business trip.
Relax & good luck
