Tutors - free of those who charge - or seeing the teacher for additional help are excellent suggestions.

I would also recommend the book "Chemistry for Dummies". Before you get offended, this book is part of the long series of "for Dummies" books, that cover a wide array of topics, ranging from horses and dogs to science classes. I have an advanced degree in science and I bought this book for quick references. The book may help explain chemistry in terms your child can better understand.

But no tutor or book will help him if your child doesn't have self-motivation. Be sure that he is also in the proper frame of mind to pass this class. Really talk and LISTEN to your child. If he/she says things like, "I'll never pass no matter what." that's a warning flag and an area that you should address.

Good luck!

try to help the child find a way to study chemistry from a different point of view, maybe with a lot of exercises and experiences and less book reading. A tutor should help to find different ways to study.

If you enjoy what are you doing you don't even notice that you are under heavy study.

I agree, a tutor. I did poorly in school and copied other people mostly. I wish now I would have applied myself and had the proper help for my set backs. Sometimes even a classmate who excels in that class can be helpful. Your guidance counselor at school can help you find someone.

get them a tutor if they don't understand what's going on. Most local universitites will recomend one of their majors. It's gonna cost $10-15 (or more) an hour so be prepared.
