Yes, who would it hurt, admitting that wrong had been done to an entire group of people and for that the nation apologizes. Take a look at Canada every year they seem to be apologizing to a new groups of people they have oppressed along the lines.

It only serves to quell anger and strengthen communities. It is a small gesture that would mean a great deal to a large number of Americans.

Should the Africans apologize to the Egyptians?Should The Egyptians apologize to the Hebrews?And so on and so forth There is no one alive today who was a slave,or slave owner during that time.I can not and will not make apologies for anything I had nothing to do with.Now should there be some thought given to should the Klan give apologies Yes should the Black Panthers yes.there are still people in there gropes that can make a difference.

Not unless you want to apologize to me also. For treating my parents and grandparents like they did not exist. Most of the wealthy elite in the Country looked way down on hard working farmers or share croppers that sometimes could not make a living. They were so poor they like to have starved to death. Do you think the Government or the wealthy did anything except look at them as throw-a-way people. At least the slaves were valued to some extent and were fed, clothed and given shelter.
